World Book Day

World Book Day is fast approaching and is a celebration of reading.

The event is marked on March 4 but books can be enjoyed any day of the year. Sharing stories together for just ten minutes a day can encourage a child’s love of reading and improve their vocabulary.

Picture books are also a great way of boosting creativity and imagination or exploring situations which are tricky to explain. For a zany read try Claire Freedman’s Aliens Love Underpants or Not Enough For Queen Fluff by Rachel Lyon. Maybe you prefer a cosy Brambly Hedge tale or the heart warming, Love by Corrinne Averiss. In fact there are so many books to choose there’s no need to wait until the big day!
